State Bank of IndiaState Bank of India ATM & Cash Services

SBI customers who want to understand when an ATM/ADWM transaction is free, how cash-recycler deposits work and which limits belong to the account, debit card or cardless channel.

Cost / pricing
ATM charges depend on account type and channel. SBI's 1 December 2025 notice lists 5 free other-bank ATM/ADWM transactions at all centres for ordinary Savings Bank variants excluding BSBD/KCC/Salary Package, then ₹23 + GST per cash withdrawal and ₹11 + GST per non-financial transaction. Salary Package accounts were listed at 10 free transactions at all centres under that notice; SBI has separately announced another Salary Package free-transaction revision effective 1 October 2026, so that segment is refresh-gated.

Each checkpoint reproduces the recorded product fields instead of assigning a winner. Read the condition, scope and missing-data state before treating a difference as useful to you.

01Which ATM allowance applies to your use?Compare own-bank and other-bank terms in the correct account or card context.

State Bank of India ATM & Cash Services

Own-bank ATM
Current SBI ATM material states that all non-financial transactions at SBI ATMs/ADWMs are free. Free financial/cash-withdrawal treatment follows the account-specific SBI schedule and is not replaced by the other-bank ATM allowance.
Other-bank ATM
The dated 1 December 2025 SBI charge notice lists 5 free monthly financial + non-financial other-bank ATM/ADWM transactions at all centres for ordinary Savings Bank variants excluding BSBD/KCC/Salary Package, then ₹23 + GST cash withdrawal and ₹11 + GST non-financial. The generic SBI ATM page still says 3 metro/5 non-metro, so the conflict is exposed.

ICICI Bank ATM & Cash Services

Own-bank ATM
First 5 financial transactions per month at ICICI ATMs are free for Savings-account holders; all non-financial ICICI ATM transactions are free under the current ATM FAQ.
Other-bank ATM
First 3 financial/non-financial transactions in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, or first 5 elsewhere, are free subject to a maximum 5 free transactions per month; thereafter ₹23 financial and ₹8.50 non-financial, plus GST.
02Will the withdrawal and deposit rules fit?Check withdrawals and machine deposits as separate transactions.

State Bank of India ATM & Cash Services

Withdrawal limits
Debit-card daily limits continue to control card withdrawals. SBI UPI QR Cash/ICCW currently permits up to ₹10,000 per day through at most 2 transactions; SBI also sends an OTP for SBI-debit-card ATM/ADWM transactions above ₹10,000.
Cash deposit machine
ADWMs are deposit-cum-withdrawal machines. For current accounts, SBI's current waiver notice lists up to ₹1 lakh per card-based deposit transaction, ₹49,900 cardless, ₹49,900 debit-card-to-third-party current account and GRC up to ₹25,000 per transaction/₹1 lakh monthly; existing CBS cash-handling/free-deposit limits still apply.

ICICI Bank ATM & Cash Services

Withdrawal limits
Card withdrawal is constrained by the debit-card/account limit. Cardless cash has conflicting current ICICI disclosures: the general ATM page says ₹20,000/transaction and ₹50,000/day; the dedicated cardless page says ₹20,000/transaction and ₹20,000/day.
Cash deposit machine
ICICI CRMs support cash deposits. Deposit charges and free transaction/value thresholds follow the applicable Savings/current account schedule rather than one CRM-wide free allowance.
03What charges and failed-ATM handling apply?Check the scope of charges and the recorded failed-transaction treatment.

State Bank of India ATM & Cash Services

Charge scope
Always match the charge row to account segment and own-bank versus other-bank channel. A separate Salary Package revision is already scheduled for 1 October 2026 and must be refreshed before quoting that segment after the effective date.
Failed ATM treatment
RBI's controlling framework requires proactive reversal when an ATM account is debited but cash is not dispensed within T+5 calendar days and ₹100/day compensation for delay beyond T+5. SBI provides ATM complaint/unauthorised-transaction support through its published customer-care channels.

ICICI Bank ATM & Cash Services

Charge scope
Apply ATM interchange charges independently from branch/CRM cash-handling charges, and match the latter to account opening date, programme and account variant.
Failed ATM treatment
ICICI supports ATM cash-withdrawal complaints through Net Banking, customer care and branches. RBI requires reversal of debit-without-cash ATM failures within T+5 calendar days and ₹100/day compensation for delay beyond T+5.

Eligible account / cardRequires the relevant SBI account and, for card-based ATM/ADWM use, an eligible SBI debit card. ATM access does not change the balance, BSBDA, salary-package or current-account rules of the underlying account.Requires an eligible ICICI account/debit card for card-based ATM use; CRM, cardless and branch cash services remain governed by the linked account and current service-charge schedule.
ATM / cash service coverageSBI ATMs/ADWMs support cash withdrawal and non-financial services; ADWMs also support cash deposits. Current SBI material says all non-financial transactions at SBI ATMs/ADWMs are free, supports UPI QR cash withdrawal and applies additional OTP protection to higher-value SBI-card ATM/ADWM transactions.ICICI ATMs/CRMs support cash withdrawal/deposit, mini statements, fund transfer, FD opening, cheque-book request, PIN generation and cardless cash withdrawal. Failed ATM complaints can be lodged through Net Banking, customer care or branch routes.
ATM / cash limitsCard-based cash withdrawal remains subject to the debit-card/account limit. SBI's UPI QR Cash facility currently allows up to ₹10,000 per day through at most two ICCW transactions. SBI's current-account ADWM waiver notice lists card-based current-account deposits up to ₹1 lakh per transaction, cardless deposits up to ₹49,900 and specified third-party current-account deposits up to ₹49,900.Card-based ATM withdrawal depends on the issued debit-card/account limit. ICICI's current ATM page lists cardless cash at ₹20,000 per transaction and ₹50,000/day, while the dedicated current cardless-cash page says ₹20,000 both per transaction and per day; v1.42 exposes this source conflict rather than selecting the larger figure.
ATM / cash accessEligible SBI customers according to the underlying account/card and machine/channel. Other-bank ATM usage is governed by the SBI account's current free-transaction schedule; cardless/UPI cash requires a supported ICCW journey.Eligible ICICI customers under the account/card/service rules. Cardless cash uses iMobile/temporary PIN/SMS-code controls and supported ICICI ATMs.
Account / card / channel relationshipATM/ADWM economics are a service layer over the underlying SBI account and debit-card variant; the same machine can apply different free counts, limits or charges to Savings, Salary Package, BSBD/KCC and Current Account relationships.ATM and cash charges are account-state dependent. ICICI maintains separate Savings schedules for accounts opened from 1 August 2025, earlier accounts, salary/family and special/basic variants; the generic service layer does not overwrite those schedules.

Wrong-fit risks

State Bank of India

State Bank of India ATM & Cash Services

  • SBI's live generic ATM page still describes 3 free other-bank ATM transactions in six metros and 5 elsewhere, while the more specific 1 December 2025 SBI charge notice lists 5 free at all centres for ordinary Savings Bank variants; v1.42 preserves that source conflict and treats the dated charge notice as the pricing anchor.
  • SBI has announced a further Salary Package free-transaction revision effective 1 October 2026. The salary-package ATM field is therefore refresh-gated rather than projected beyond 30 September 2026.
  • ADWM deposit limits and waivers are account-specific; the current-account waiver must not be copied to Savings or other account types.
ICICI Bank

ICICI Bank ATM & Cash Services

  • ICICI's live ATM page and dedicated cardless-cash page disagree on the daily cardless withdrawal ceiling (₹50,000 versus ₹20,000). The conflict is preserved and the lower figure should be treated as the safer operational assumption until ICICI reconciles the pages.
  • Cash-deposit/branch charges differ by account variant and opening date; a generic ICICI cash article must not override the current schedule that applies to the customer's account.
  • For ATM cash not received, check whether an automatic reversal has already posted and use the bank's complaint route; RBI's T+5 calendar-day standard controls compensation timing.
