Critical decision facts

Channel scope and security state determine what the published limit really means.

Rail, channel, beneficiary, cooling, authentication and recovery rules stay separate instead of being compressed into one generic digital-banking number.

Exact product-type evidence

UPI payment service evidence stays in its own structure.

Specialist fields below remain source-scoped. Missing values stay missing; one banking product type is never used to manufacture facts for another.

UPI control map

Separate the funding source, steady-state limit and temporary security state.

UPI is not represented by one universal ₹1 lakh number. Bank/app risk controls, device cooling, Lite, card-funded merchant UPI and mandate rules are kept in their own fields. Reviewed September 10, 2026.

UPI app / channeliMobile UPI, including ordinary UPI payments and a dedicated UPI Lite section on supported iMobile versions.
Registration / linkingLink the eligible bank account in iMobile and complete the mobile/account verification plus UPI PIN setup. UPI Lite is separately enabled by selecting the bank account, adding value and authenticating setup with the UPI PIN.
AuthenticationOrdinary UPI uses the UPI PIN. Eligible UPI Lite payments up to ₹1,000 are made without entering the UPI PIN after Lite has been funded/activated.
Steady-state limitsICICI’s NRI UPI page currently states ₹1 lakh/day for its international-mobile UPI flow. The engine does not convert that NRI statement into a universal resident iMobile cap where the reviewed resident FAQ does not give an equally scoped single figure.
New-user / device coolingCurrent NRI/international-mobile ICICI UPI guidance states ₹5,000 for the first 24 hours on Android and 72 hours on iOS after creation of a new UPI ID/VPA; this is stored as NRI-flow evidence, not generalized beyond its source scope.
UPI LiteICICI current FAQ: ₹1,000 per transaction, ₹10,000 cumulative usage per day and ₹5,000 maximum Lite balance. No additional KYC; Auto Top-Up is available; Lite excludes UPI International, AutoPay and Collect.
RuPay credit card on UPIEligible RuPay credit-card UPI should be evaluated as a separate card-funded merchant-payment state. NPCI prohibits P2P/P2PM/card-to-card/cash-withdrawal flows for linked RuPay credit cards and applies the lowest issuer-risk/card/customer limit.
AutoPay / mandatesICICI’s UPI Lite explicitly excludes AutoPay; recurring UPI therefore remains an ordinary UPI AutoPay mandate layer with separate authorization/control rules.
Merchant / QR controlsUPI Lite supports Scan to Pay to merchants as well as Pay to Mobile; ordinary iMobile UPI supports the broader UPI payment stack.
Failure / dispute / recoveryOn device change, ICICI instructs users to close the existing UPI Lite account so its balance is transferred back to the linked bank account before opening Lite on the new device; failed Lite debits have a documented refund/support path.
Maintained terms

Fees, balances, benefits, limits and eligibility without a single-score shortcut.

These six fields are the cross-product layer. The specialist section above controls whenever a type-specific field is more precise.

Payment / channel costNo separate consumer fee is modeled for ordinary iMobile UPI from the reviewed FAQ. Underlying account/card/service charges, international mobile/SMS/data costs and separate payment products remain governed by their own terms.
Eligible funding sourceRequires an eligible linked bank account for account-funded UPI. UPI Lite is loaded from the linked savings account and cannot be topped up using a debit or credit card under the current ICICI FAQ.
UPI capabilitiesiMobile supports UPI payments and UPI Lite with no additional KYC for Lite, Scan to Pay/Pay to Mobile, real-time top-up and optional Auto Top-Up. ICICI also documents UPI for eligible NRO customers with registered international mobile numbers in supported countries.
UPI / security limitsICICI’s current UPI material states ordinary UPI limits can be account/use-case specific; its NRI UPI guidance states ₹1 lakh/day and ₹5,000 initial cooling for a newly created UPI/VPA on supported international-mobile flows. UPI Lite is documented separately at ₹1,000 per payment, ₹10,000 cumulative usage/day and ₹5,000 maximum Lite balance.
Registration eligibilityEligible ICICI Bank customers using iMobile and a supported linked account/mobile setup. NRI international-mobile UPI applies to the bank’s listed NRO-account/country flow and is not silently generalized to every resident account.
Payment / funding relationshipOrdinary account-funded UPI, NRI international-mobile access, UPI Lite and any eligible RuPay credit-card UPI funding are separate states; UPI Lite funds come from the linked savings account.
Fit & cautions

Who this record appears designed for—and what can break the fit.

Best-fit wording summarizes the published proposition. It is not individualized financial advice or an approval prediction.

Potential fit

ICICI Bank customers who want iMobile UPI with a particularly well-documented UPI Lite implementation and need NRI/mobile-registration conditions kept distinct from resident assumptions.

Verify before relying
  • The ₹5,000 first-registration cooling rule cited by ICICI is explicitly documented in its NRI/international-mobile UPI flow; the engine does not automatically claim the identical duration for every resident iMobile registration path without matching evidence.
  • UPI Lite cannot be used for UPI International, AutoPay or Collect requests in ICICI’s current FAQ.
  • Changing device should be handled by closing the old UPI Lite account first so the balance returns to the bank account before creating Lite on the new device.
Maintained comparisons

Compare this product only where the pair is deliberately maintained.

Both sides keep independent review dates, exact conditions and first-party evidence. No winner score is generated.

First-party source ledger

Complete evidence set for this maintained profile.

Each source remains independent. A product page, tariff, KFS/MITC, rate schedule or programme document is not silently treated as interchangeable evidence.

Current-use rule

When the bank changes a term after the recorded review, the current agreement, tariff, KFS/MITC or effective rate table controls.
